Many of us use powerful desktop computers, which means that we have to monitor its performance regularly. It’s even worse when you’ve overclocked your computer, because that’s when things get extremely serious. You see, whenever we overclock a computer, it’s always imperative to make sure everything is running as smoothly as possible. Usually this means keeping track of the device’s heat to ensure it doesn’t overheat and destroy the entire computer.
To control things, there are several tools that one can use, but we will talk regarding Linpack Xtreme. It is a tool best used for testing the performance of an overclocked computer and was created by IntelBurnTest, OCCT, and Prime95. We’ve been using this tool for a while, so as it stands, we have a lot to say.

Download Linpack Xtreme is quite simple as the file is just under 8MB. The next step following downloading is to unzip the tool from the ZIP folder and install the 32-bit or 64-bit version. Due to the type of computer we use; we installed the 64-bit version,
Once installed, you will realize that there is no graphical user interface as everything is done through the command line. This is both a good and a bad thing, but it all depends on what kind of computer user you are.
Benchmarking and Stress Testing Software for Windows
If you’re new to it, chances are you need a graphical user interface to better understand what to do. If you’re an advanced Windows 10 user, this shouldn’t be a problem. Not to mention that the commands are listed here:
- Reference
- Stress test
- View the Readme.txt file
- Go out.
If you want to run a Benchmark, there is no need to type the word, just press the number and follow the instructions. To break it down, if you want to run a Referencejust press 1 next to the text that says “What do you want to do?“, then press the Enter key or any other key.
To perform a Stress testpress the number 2. You should now understand how to do the others, if desired.
Also, we realized that once a test is run, there is no way to run another one without terminating the program and starting all over once more. This is counterproductive, so we hope the developers will make changes in the near future.
Overall, Linpack Xtreme does what it says it can do, and that’s still the most important aspect for us. Get Linpack Xtreme directly from the official site.
