Linkin Park: Comeback bei Rock am Ring? – VISIONS

The countdown that Linkin Park announced on Saturday evening was 100 hours long – so on Wednesday evening there should be certainty about the event. Until then, there will be a lot of speculation about a possible comeback by the band. The band had been in hiatus since the death of frontman Chester Bennington in 2017. They played their last concert to date in October 2017 in honor of Bennington.

Also on Wednesday, further band announcements for the next edition of Rock Am Ring are to follow, which strengthens the assumption of a comeback at Germany’s biggest rock festival. Some US festivals also shared the band’s countdown in their Instagram stories and recently pointed to an imminent announcement of the first bands. Website of the official fan club by Linkin Park also indicates that updates will follow soon.

The Countdown von Linkin Park runs under the title “Ø”, designer Alan Ashcraft confirmed, in Tweets that have since been deletedfor working with the band on this project. In the past, Ashcraft has worked with bands such as Rise Against and Jimmy Eat World, as well as Linkin Park.

Already in the first half of 2024, rumors about a comeback by Linkin Park began to circulate, most recently that an as yet unknown singer would take over from Bennington and the booking agency WME Venues was reportedly looking for venues for a headline tour. The band did not comment on the rumors, but frontman Mike Shinoda pointed out in April that official information about a comeback would only come from the band itself: “If you hear it from someone else, you can trust that information as much as you want.”

Linkin Park recently released their first best-of album, “Papercuts.” In previous years, they celebrated the anniversaries of their two successful albums, “Hybrid Theory” and “Meteora,” with comprehensive reissues. The band’s most recent studio album, “One More Light,” was released in 2017.
