Lingopass, a Brazilian edtech focused on teaching languages for companies, joined the Companies with Refugees Forum, a space aimed at companies interested in the inclusion of refugees in Brazilian society. The Business Forum is an initiative of UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) and the UN Brazil Global Compact, in a context in which the number of refugees has grown by more than 50% in the last 10 years. Currently, there are 25.4 million worldwide.

Today, 85% of refugees are trying to rebuild their lives in developing countries, according to data from UNHCR. More than half (57%) of the world’s refugees leave from Syria, Afghanistan and South Sudan – Burundi, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Iraq, Myanmar, South Sudan, Sudan, Ukraine and Yemen are also among those nations with large numbers of refugees.

O lifting The agency also reveals that children and adolescents under 18 years of age represent 52% of the refugee population in the world. The organization draws attention to the fact that underage refugees may have witnessed or experienced violence and, in exile, are at risk of abuse, neglect, violence, exploitation, trafficking or military recruitment.

In this scenario, the Companies with Refugees Forum works as a coalition of more than 75 companies and other business organizations dedicated to supporting the inclusion of refugees in the job market. Through the initiative, companies can dialogue and exchange experiences with each other and have access to training for hiring refugees, in addition to the possibility of sharing good practices in the inclusion of these professionals in work environments and society in general.

“We are very happy with Lingopass’ participation in the Companies with Refugees Forum. This is yet another action that demonstrates our commitment to supporting the refugee population in Brazil and, in the future, also in the world”, says Alexandrine Brami, Co-founder & Chief Executive Officer of Lingopass.

The company’s commitment has been long-standing, supporting refugees through quality Portuguese teaching, with a view to better integration into the job market and society. Now, as a company participating in the Forum, Lingopass is committed to respecting the Forum’s values and participating in its events and activities.

“In addition, the close relationship with the Forum and the entire network of companies and organizations that develop successful projects with an impact on the refugee population presents us with the opportunity for rich exchanges to learn and improve our strategies”, adds Brami.

The businesswoman highlights that Lingopass’ participation in the Companies with Refugees Forum reflects the company’s commitment to contributing to a more inclusive and supportive world. For her, supporting the cause is an opportunity to embrace the diversity, talent and potential that refugees bring to the table.

“Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those looking for a new opportunity and a dignified new beginning. We must work together for a fairer and more inclusive world, where everyone has the opportunity to prosper and contribute to society”, he concludes.
