A similar announcement was already last summer: then Lincoln showed a teaser of the front of the future electric car and a sketch of its interior (they are below). But nothing followed the publication, and the electric Lincoln project was already forgotten. In vain, because the development of the car continues, and this time, along with a new teaser, which highlights the feed, the premiere date is announced – April 20th. Apparently, the debut will take place in China.
So far, this is only a concept car: according to the official version, it is intended to show the direction of development for Lincoln electric vehicles, which will appear in the near future. Although there is no doubt that the first serial electric crossover will be the development of this concept – such a Lincoln will compete with the SUV Cadillac Lyriqwhich debuted a year ago, but has not yet entered the assembly line (the start of production is expected in the near future).
In fact, Lincoln electric cars should have arrived earlier. For this concern Ford in the fall of 2019 concluded an agreement with young startup Rivian, previously by investing it has $500 million. However, cooperation ended as soon as it began: already in April 2020, the parties broke up, referring to the “current situation” (meaning the pandemic). After that, Ford is developing electric Lincolns in-house.
