Lilia Cedillo receives re-accreditation of the Bachelor of Medicine study plan

For the fourth consecutive year, the BUAP Bachelor of Medicine obtained re-accreditation by the Mexican Council for the Accreditation of Medical Education (COMAEM), which accounts for compliance with criteria, indicators and quality parameters of the study plan. It is one of the professional options of this House of Studies with the highest enrollment: around 5 thousand students.

Upon receiving the plaque of this recognition, from the hands of the Technical and Operational Secretary of COMAEM, Juan Hernández Hernández, Rector Lilia Cedillo Ramírez highlighted the importance of the evaluation and certification processes carried out by academic peers, because they represent opportunities for improvement and to consider challenges.

However, he stressed that the most benefited are the students, who are given peace of mind and the certainty of a training supported by a quality curriculum. This, she said, “opens the doors of hospitals for them and gives them opportunities at home and abroad.”

For the institution, added Dr. Cedillo, it is essential to have these accreditations that account for the quality of its study plans, and in the case of Medicine, it is crucial due to the responsibility and social commitment that training health professionals represents. .

“It is a pleasure to share with you this joy for this recognition of the Faculty of Medicine, which shows the solidarity and teamwork of its directors, teachers, administrators and students. It is a source of pride to know that we contribute to training good health professionals, in the hands of those who hold the health of Mexicans and the life of a family is at stake,” he said.

For his part, the Technical and Operational Secretary of COMAEM, a body that evaluates the quality of medical schools and faculties in Mexico, Central and South America, recognized by the Council for the Accreditation of Higher Education, Juan Hernández Hernández, reported that in There are 170 medical schools in the country, of which 91 are accredited. In the case of BUAP, he highlighted that it is one of the universities with the highest number of awards and prestige in the country.

Referring to the reaccreditation of the Bachelor of Medicine, which is valid for five years (until May 23, 2027), he specified that he endorses compliance with the quality parameters, as a result of the evaluation by academic peers in organization, structure, operation, teaching-learning process and results, among other indicators examined.

“This accreditation benefits educational institutions, students, graduates and employers, but above all society, since better quality medical education, better practice of its professionals and better health care,” he commented.

For his part, Luis Guillermo Vázquez de Lara Cisneros, director of the Faculty of Medicine, thanked the collaborative work, because this achievement is the result of a concerted exercise between the academic, administrative and student staff. “Without that coordination it wouldn’t have been possible,” he said.

The coordinator of the Bachelor of Medicine, Guillermo Muñoz Zurita, as well as teachers and workers from this academic unit were present at the award ceremony, held in the Postgraduate Building of the Faculty of Medicine.
