Recently, the music world was shocked by the news that young rapper Lil Tay passed away at the age of 14.
But now, Lil Tay’s family has spoken up and explained that the rapper is still alive. The information circulating regarding Lil Tay’s death since yesterday was stated to be only fake news.
According to the family, until now Lil Tay is still in good health. Lil Tay’s brother who reportedly died is also still alive today.
“I want to make it clear to all that my brother and I are safe and alive, but I am very sad and have difficulty finding the right words for it,” Lil Tay said through his family on Thursday (10/8/2023) US time .
“These were 24 hours that really traumatized me. Since yesterday, I have been inundated with calls full of sobs and sorrow from people I care regarding while solving this problem,” he continued.
He later said the grief announcement on his Instagram was hacked by someone who wanted to spread fake news. Even down to his real name.
“My Instagram is used by third parties and used to spread misinformation and rumors regarding me, to the extent that even my name is wrong. My real name is Tay Tian, not Claire Hope,” he continued.
Lil Tay admitted that he was grateful to Meta for being able to access his Instagram account once more. Posts regarding Lil Tay’s death have also been removed from the social media platform.
But until now Lil Tay has not explained who the third person was who hacked his social media and why his family only provided clarification following 24 hours.
