“Temporarily evacuate” areas of the West Bank. This is the idea put forward this morning by Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz, while the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are engaged in an “anti-terrorism” operation in the north of the Palestinian territory. “We must address the threat of terrorism in the same way we address the infrastructure of terrorism in Gaza, including with the temporary evacuation of Palestinian residents and whatever measures are necessary,” Katz writes on X, referring to the operation in the areas of Jenin and Tulkarem. “It is a war in every sense and we must win it.”

In the post, the minister of the government led by Benjamin Netanyahu states that the aim of the operation is “to counter the Islamic-Iranian terrorist infrastructure”. Iran, he accuses, “is working to establish an eastern terrorist front against Israel in the West Bank, along the lines of Gaza and Lebanon, financing and arming terrorists and smuggling sophisticated weapons from Jordan”.
