The Director of Research of the National Observatory of Athens in his post on Thursday talked about a new very significant rise in temperature that seems like an April Fool’s joke…
“After the very high temperatures in Southern Greece on Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28/03, a new very significant increase in temperature is expected on April Fool’s Day” he notes in his post on Facebook.
“The first map below shows the temperature anomaly at the 850 hPa level* (about 1500 meters above the surface) in Europe, with temperatures up to 16 degrees above normal for the season (orange and red colors on the map), mainly in Eastern Europe and the Balkans. These deviations are characterized as extreme!” he adds.
“It is interesting to see the same picture on a global level. Many areas of the Northern Hemisphere are expected to have very high temperatures on April Fool’s Day, mainly in parts of the US, Eastern Canada and Greenland, most of Europe (as mentioned above) and parts of China. The level of 850 hPa is used to study the movement of gas masses, in the lower layers of the atmosphere,” he concludes.

Winds will blow from south directions 3 to 5 and locally in the Aegean 6 Beaufort. From noon to the west and south they will turn to west directions 3 to 5 Beaufort.
Temperatures will drop slightly in the north-west, however they will remain at seasonally high levels across the country.

Winds will blow from north directions 3 to 5 Beaufort and locally in the Aegean 6 Beaufort.
