Like 44 years ago: quadruple triumph for Austria’s ski jumpers

“An incredible team effort. Everyone must have done everything right – including the service team. It’s a perfect day for us.” Stefan Kraft, who confidently leads in Raw Air and the overall World Cup, was amazed following a demonstration of power by the Austrian “Eagles” in Trondheim. The red-white-red ski jumpers led by Salzburg celebrated a rare quadruple triumph.

The local team has only achieved such a feat once before. That was in Thunder Bay in 1980, when Armin Kogler won ahead of Hubert Neuper, Toni Innauer and Claus Tuchscherer. The Slovenians also achieved this in Planica in March 2022.

This time in Norway even five Austrians ended up in the top six. Behind the quartet Kraft, Daniel Tschofenig, Jan Hörl and Daniel Huber, Michael Hayböck came in sixth. “I’m only the fifth best Austrian, but I’m happy with the performance. It’s really great for our team,” said Theninger.

We continue with ski flying in Vikersund, where Kraft can already secure the big crystal ball.
