Liguria, Orlando: sustainable reindustrialization is needed – News VDA – Gazzetta Matin

Genoa, 27 September. (askanews) – “The sustainable reindustrialization of Liguria is the condition for stopping the exodus of qualified young people which aggravates the demographic crisis of the region”. The Democratic Party deputy and center-left candidate for the presidency of the Liguria Region, Andrea Orlando, says this in an interview with Secolo XIX.

“Certainly – underlines the former minister – we start from infrastructures, which are not someone’s monopoly and are not just roads and railways: broadband, cabling, calculation tools, business services, these things must also be supported. And then a network of personal services adequate to support workers in caring for the elderly and children, and in finding a home. We must open an asphyxiated labor market and raise the employment rate with quality work, with higher wages and stable contracts. Then there is the issue of the cost of energy, which is too high: investing in the production of renewables, where we are twentieth in Italy, in energy communities”.

“We need – concludes Orlando – a defense of Liguria’s industrial tradition, a structure to combat the industrial crises that other regions have. And a structured relationship with those who innovate, in Liguria we have IIT, University, CNR, on the model of the German Fraunhofer. Without forgetting a system of training and active labor policies that exploits the potential of the Gol program which I had included in the Pnrr and is worth several million euros for Liguria”.
