Ligue 1: 12 contaminations among Merlus, Lille – Lorient postponed to a later date

Unsurprisingly, the Omicron variant, omnipresent in the territory, does not spare football and invites itself into Ligue 1, while the second part of the season begins Friday evening. The Lille-Lorient match, initially scheduled for Saturday at 5 p.m., for the 20th day of Ligue 1, was postponed due to the numerous Covid-19 contaminations detected in the Lorient workforce, the Professional Football League announced on Thursday ( LFP).

The LFP published a press release: “After the opinion of the national COVID FFF commission concerning the number of FC Lorient players tested positive RT-PCR and absent with certainty for the match against LOSC Lille, the Competitions Commission of the LFP, acting within the framework of chapter 2.4.2.2 of the protocol for the organization of matches for the 2021-22 season, decides to postpone the LOSC Lille – FC Lorient match, counting for the 20th day of Ligue 1 Uber Eats and initially scheduled for Saturday 8 January 2022 at 5 p.m. “

The Lorient club, which counted 12 positive cases in its workforce on Wednesday, including the three goalkeepers of the workforce Paul Nardi, Matthieu Dreyer and Teddy Bartouche. had requested the postponement of his resumption meeting, a meeting for which the rescheduling date remains to be defined. This is the second match of the 20th day postponed due to Covid-19 after Angers – Saint-Étienne, rescheduled for January 26.

The L1 is not the only one affected by the Covid-19: this Thursday, the LFP announced the postponement of three Ligue 2 matches. Scheduled this weekend, Caen-Niort, Dunkirk-PFC and Amiens-Ajaccio do will not compete because of the clusters among Chamois, Northerners and Picards.
