Although details of the agreement that has been signed have not yet been given and from the DirecTV firm they are waiting to give more details, Deporte Total was able to learn more regarding what is coming for Liga 1.

A few months ago, in an interview with El Comercio, the president of 1190 Sports, David Belmar, assured that there would be no exclusivity in the broadcast of the tournament, something that may sound contradictory to the DirecTV news. “What we promote and want is that the distribution of the league must be open to all operators. Not only in an operator like now”.

From the Federation they assure that it will be given in this way. This is what Carlos Caro told us, a lawyer who sees the conflict of the transmission of League 1 between the FPF and the Consorcio Fútbol Perú. Although he does not handle details, he knows that it will not be an exclusive transmission, at least during 2023, a year that he considers a transition.

To begin with, the matches of the clubs that had a contract with the Peru Football Consortium until 2023 and 2025 before the rights pass to the FPF, will continue to be broadcast on said channel. “That formula will have to be explained by 1190 Sports. To the extent that there are contracts in force, there will be transmissions that are in the hands of the Consortium”, Carlos Caro tells us.

These clubs are Carlos Mannucci (2023), Universitario, Sport Boys and Deportivo Municipal (2025). “It is a transition, a kind of white march in order to respect those rights celebrated at the time by the clubs. The FPF might close and say “everyone to the new model”, but we want to avoid conflicts”, Carlos Caro assures us.

What they expect from the FPF is that there is no exclusivity on the part of DirecTV, but also that they are transmitted by other means, such as Apps for cell phones and on web pages. “1190 Sports has the entrepreneurial freedom to seek the best mechanisms and multiple platforms to be able to broadcast and generate profitability,” Caro tells us.

It will be the FPF who is in charge of clarifying the platforms through which the local tournament will be broadcast. What they are looking for in La Videna is that the old model of a single cable signal that transmits does not exist. It is expected that there will be a package of transmissions. “The DirecTV will be a channel of transmission, it will not be the only one,” says the lawyer Carlos Caro.
