Lift, a film from the Hartbeat production company, premiered on January 12, 2024. It is directed by F. Gary Gray and, in turn, produced by Bryan Smiley. Its casting features renowned talents from the big screen such as Kevin Hart, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Sam Worthington.
W Fin De Semana spoke with none other than the protagonist of Lift, Kevin Hart, who referred to his role in the film and also spoke regarding Colombia and what the country means to him.

The renowned actor began by talking regarding his versatility in the world of entertainment, as he is an artist who has not only stood out in cinema but also in the world of comedy.
“The world of work I’ve done to date has had a significant amount of action and comedy in it. This is just me changing it up and prioritizing the serious side more and letting the comedy come from the other person. And I think that’s what I’ve been doing for a long time, I’ve been doing it for the people around me,” he recounted.
And Hart’s role in Lift is not what people are usually used to, as he is a ‘serious’ character.
“This is the idea of the protagonist that I now want to play. This is me showing that I can do it and positioning myself to do more of it. But it starts with ‘Lift’. It starts with people resonating towards this, and saying, wow, what a great movie. What a great cast,” the actor emphasized.
From a production point of view, Bryan Smiley also spoke on W Fin De Semana explaining why he chose this type of genre or category: a robbery.
“I think it’s a genre that people love. Everything in the business is cyclical, but for us we are going to make a heist movie that feels really different and fresh,” she recounted.
Adding in turn: “We love the genre, but we wanted to make sure that whatever we did was really different and fresh.”
Kevin Hart and his perception of Colombia
Hart began by speaking in his first intervention, precisely, regarding Colombia, which he mentioned that he loves, while highlighting the role that this country plays in the film industry.
“I love Colombia, I love the people, I love the energy. Colombia has always been a great market. And more importantly, when you talk regarding stand-up and the idea of movie premieres, it’s a place that we’ve always prioritized and made sure to dedicate time to. The reason is because of the response. The energy of the people. Great energy. Great people. I’ll stick with that,” Hart said.
