Chicken pox is a common viral disease among kindergarten and elementary school children, but it usually does not cause serious symptoms, he said in InfoRadio Katalin Havasi, president of the Association of Family Pediatricians.
The infection typically occurs in winter and spring, and symptoms are mainly among children aged 5-15. The most characteristic symptom is a rash, which appears mainly on the two cheeks and sometimes on the bridge of the nose, the redness resembles the wings of a butterfly. But rashes can also occur on the limbs.
Since the wind can also blow the child’s face, but others can also make him blush, so if the skin has small rashes all over the body, even on the limbs – which usually hardly itch -, there is a good chance that the child has chicken pox.
The family doctor added that the symptoms are often mistaken for hives, but it itches much more. The disease is usually contagious before the symptoms appear, which is why it can appear in a row among the members of a preschool group if one of them has already caught it.
More than half of the population will experience the disease in their lifetime, and it will basically go away without medication, but if other symptoms also appear, they should definitely consult a doctor – recommended the president of the Association of Family Pediatricians.
