Brutal dervish Todd Jones will be back soon Nails into which the hardcore octagon climbs. Until then, there are opportunities Lifesick based on Love and Other Lies but as well-connected sparring partners.

After three albums (which tended to be excluded from widespread public attention) (6 0 1, Swept in Black and Misanthropy) is the conceptual one Live and Other Lies the first EP from the Danish group founded in 2015 – and it should ensure that based on its short but impressive guest list alone Lifesick appear on more scene radars than before.
But first the quintet sets off for a veritable mindfuck in the eleven-minute total playing time.

Every Unpleasant Emotion As the only one of the three songs performed without a prominent feature, it wanders over scorched earth, strums a rusty acoustic guitar and maintains a grumbling melange of dark folk, Americana prairie and goth country, associatively somewhere in between King Dude and early Jay Jayle. The dusty, post-apocalyptic elegy lives from the atmosphere and mood that dominates the tired, moaning songwriting – until a few subdued screams at the end of the opener cast additional shadows and announce the rest of the EP’s path.

Rude Awakening raps with Mark Wheelan (Fuming Mouth) energized in a wild frenzy, a metallic hardcore with sludgy mass and rabid howling acceleration into the brutal environment of beatdown and death – then click Nails-Fans already with their tongues.
But how much more aggression does Jones himself have? Reverse Birth pumping, which scourges the pit with an immense amount of mean grindiness, is quite significant. Where Wheelan provides a relative contrast in the vocal range, Jones intensifies the maelstrom as if intoxicated, bringing with it the greed for brutal extremes. Then the flies circle over the measuring rod carcass – and the anticipation of it Nailsreturn has grown, as has interest in the successor to announced for next year Misanthropy.
