The Supreme Court has ended the lifetime disqualification of Nawaz Sharif and Jahangir Tareen by giving a verdict on the interpretation of Article 62 1F.
According to the decision of the Supreme Court, the disqualification of the former prime minister and leader of the Muslim League-N Nawaz Sharif and the head of the Stability Pakistan Party Jahangir Tareen has ended.
A 7-member bench headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa heard the case of interpretation of Article 62 1F.
The Supreme Court passed the decision by a majority of 6 to one, the court in its decision overruled the decision of the Samiullah Baloch disqualification case.
According to the decision, the disqualification of politicians will not be for life, 62 One F is interpreted to read-in the Constitution through judicial declaration, there is no process of law for giving declaration.
The Chief Justice of Pakistan said that after the release of the election schedule, it was necessary that this decision should be pronounced immediately, thanks to all the lawyers and the Attorney General for coming.
It should be noted that on July 28, 2017, a five-member bench of the Supreme Court disqualified former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the Panama Papers case under Article 62-1F.
Similarly, on December 15, 2017, the then Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Jahangir Tareen was also disqualified by a separate bench of the Supreme Court under the same clause.
After the verdict, both Nawaz Sharif and Jahangir Tareen were disqualified from holding public office.
