A 44-year-old man was sentenced today to life imprisonment in the city of Santa Fe for the murder of a couple in whose home he was painting, and for abandoning the couple’s disabled son who died a week later, sources reported. judicial.

According to the investigation, Albornoz carried out painting tasks in the house and had the trust of the couple.

Prosecutor Gioria explained that the painter had stolen dollars and a Renault Duster van from the family, which according to the Prosecutor’s theory of the case motivated the double homicide to hide the previous crime.

“Albornoz suffocated both Rampazzo and Fernando Espino in order to ensure their impunity in relation to a robbery he committed at the home,” said the prosecutor.

In addition, it maintained that “with the awareness that the son of the people he killed might not fend for himself for the activities of daily life, the convicted person left him in a situation of absolute helplessness.”

It is regarding a disabled person who “although he received medical attention at the José María Cullen hospital, died a week following his parents.”

The couple’s bodies were found several days following the murder “in an advanced state of decomposition” which “did not immediately determine the cause of death,” the prosecutor explained.

Just two years following the homicides, and following numerous studies, “it was learned that the deaths were caused by asphyxiation mechanisms,” Gioria said.

In addition, it highlighted that “an examination carried out on the convicted person’s cell phone revealed that it was in the vicinity of the couple’s home around 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2018,” and also that it was possible to determine the place where the stolen van, before being abandoned on public roads.

With these elements, the court today sentenced Albornoz to life imprisonment for the double homicide and for the abandonment of the couple’s disabled son.
