Liège: he gets on the bus without his mask and slaps a sixty-year-old … who stabs him in the neck in return

A violent fight took place in a TEC bus on Friday evening, the Liège prosecutor’s office reported on Saturday. During this, a 30-year-old man was stabbed by a 60-year-old man and was taken to hospital.

The facts took place Friday evening, around 8:00 p.m., in the rue des Wallons located in the Laveu district of Liège, in a bus of line 21. The victim, a man born in 1992, was arrested by another passenger of the bus while boarding the vehicle. This other passenger, a man born in 1961, verbally attacked him because he was not wearing a mask, which is still compulsory in public transport.

In response, the 30-something slapped him and the argument escalated. The 60-something took out a knife and hit the 30-something in the neck. A fight ensued. The young man managed to disarm his opponent, and dealt him several blows with his bare hands. The Liège police then arrived at the scene of the incident. The two protagonists had to be hospitalized.

The 30-year-old is unable to work for two weeks as a result of his neck injury. The sexagenarian, meanwhile, was referred Saturday morning to the Liège prosecutor’s office. His file was put under investigation with a request for an arrest warrant. He was not known to justice.
