Several unions react
The PJF of Liège is installed on three different sites. Rue Saint-Léonard, rue Saint-Gilles and rue du Palais. Problems arise in all three places. This file has been followed for a long time by Eddy Quaino, permanent CGSP-Police. When the evacuation of two blocks of rue Saint Léonard was announced, the trade unionist was not surprised: “A few days ago, we had a problem with a water pipe and a problem with the electrical installation. Today, we say stop! We can no longer take any risks with the staff”.
The request of the CGSP-Police is therefore very clear: “We are calling for the closure of these infrastructures. They are not worthy of a 21st century police force”.
SYPOL.be, le Syndicate of the Belgian Police, State Security and Penitentiary Establishments, also reacted in a press release. Jean-Marie Hottat, the president of the union, recalls that the situation is far from new and points “the continuing deterioration of working conditions on these sites and the growing risks to the safety of personnel”.
