The Libreville Public Prosecutor’s Office issued two arrest warrants against the activists Stéphane Zeng et Landry Washington following a complaint recently filed by Hervé Patrick Opiangah for defamation, public insults and attacks on son honor.
“According to judicial sources close to the case, two arrest warrants were issued a few days ago against these whistleblowers accused by the complainant of having defamed him, insulted him in public and undermined his reputation,” reports our colleague Depeche241.
In an incendiary live, the accused even violently attacked the Gabonese judicial institution, which issued two arrest warrants against them, after having meticulously conducted its investigations in the rest of the procedure.
According to criminal law, the arrest warrant differs from the warrant to bring before. The arrest warrant is the act by which the order is given by the prosecution to the public force, police, gendarmerie or affiliated service, to search for, arrest and take the person targeted to the remand center indicated on the warrant. The warrant to bring before, for its part, is an order whose purpose is to arrest the alleged perpetrator of the offense to bring him before the judge.
The two arrest warrants issued against Stéphane Zeng and Landry Amiang Washington are therefore enforceable upon their activation with the immediate effect of taking them to the central prison of Libreville. It is up to the investigating judge in the case to decide, according to the evidence in his possession, it is indicated, whether they should be kept in preventive detention, or whether they should be granted provisional release pending the trial hearing.
The Directorate General of Research (DGR) and the Directorate General of Counter-Interference and Military Security (DGCISM), commonly called ”B2”, would be the two services responsible for the execution of this judicial measure. Instructions would also have been given to the defense forces, gendarmerie, the Directorate General of Documentation and Immigration (DGDI) and justice auxiliaries to strengthen the system at land borders, particularly as is the case in the air sector, in order to prevent any escape attempts.
The law must be enforced
During the last stage of his republican tour in the Estuary, notably in Kango, the President of the Transition, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, firmly reiterated the wish to see justice free, independent and strong, declining any affinity with people who voluntarily choose to defy the authorities as well as the judicial institution.
“It’s not Oligui’s problem, it’s the justice system’s problem and I want a strong justice system. When you’re in France you don’t disrespect the police, you don’t insult the CRS, and here I don’t tolerate it.”the Head of State had inflexibly indicated.
