LibreOffice 7.4 improves compatibility with Microsoft Office documents

What better way to end the week than to talk regarding LibreOffice, the well-known free office suite! OK, I can easily see two or three million nicer things to do on a Friday evening, but let’s not spoil our pleasure, especially since version 7.4 has recently been released. It brings in its luggage improved interoperability with Office documents (from Microsoft).

It is a long-term project that continued with version 7.3, but that is far from over. This is of course an essential element for LibreOffice users. For the rest, the suite now supports WebP images, improvements for footnotes (Writer), support for spreadsheets of up to 16,384 columns (Calc), increased performance for all mods.

The reading of release notes has plenty to keep you busy for a whole weekend, it’s also a sign that development is going well and that’s good. LibreOffice 7.4 requires a Mac running macOS 10.13 (High Sierra). The next version of the software to be released in February 2023 will require macOS 10.14 (Mojave), the one scheduled for August 2023 will require macOS 10.15 (Catalina).

The previous version of LibreOffice released last February brought Apple Silicon compatibility.
