A scanner has been installed at the Limoux-Quillan hospital, in Aude. The first examinations have been carried out since January 9 using this device. An investment which aims to facilitate access to care for residents of the area.

It has only been in service for around ten days. At the Limoux-Quillan hospital center, in Aude, a scanner is now installed to complete the site’s care offering.

This is the fifth scanner in the department. “We are going to cover a region which was lacking this type of instrument which is becoming commonplace, as chest x-rays used to be”rejoices Dr. Sieryer Djohar, radiologist.

A device installed with the aim of facilitating access to care for residents of the area. “What it brings is proximity. The Limoux hospital covers two communities of municipalities which serve 48,000 inhabitants. They were far from the department’s scanning methods“, describes Jean Brizon, director of the Limoux-Quillan hospital center. A majority of the municipalities in the sector are located at a distance of 35 minutes by car from the equipment. Others are located a little further, particularly in the Aude Pyrenees.

“There is a 35% rate of refusal of care in our department. So there is a great interest in bringing care closer to the population”underlines the director of the hospital center.

“I made an appointment on Tuesday, I had an appointment on Thursday morning. It was very very fast, describes Brigitte, a patient who has an appointment this January 18. Usually, he has months and months of waiting. Plus, it’s much closer”.

An investment which represents 1.7 million euros, which the Limoux hospital hopes to complete with the upcoming acquisition of an MRI.
