Liberal deputy proposes that foreigners pay for the use of the public health system

The deputy argued that “Given the hundreds of problems that the province’s health system is experiencing today in terms of supplies, infrastructure and delays in the care of our citizens, we believe that the need to implement new mechanisms for the provincial health system is imperative”.

“The province of Buenos Aires guarantees access to health to any foreign person who requires it. Many times to the detriment of the Argentine citizens themselves who, on occasions, do not receive priority treatment even in hospitals in our province, public health being something that Argentine citizens finance as a whole,” Sotelo said.

“Our province is a destination for thousands of foreigners who visit it or seek a place to develop or live in it. That is why a project of this nature provides a response to the growing demand of the public health system, granting the necessary solvency to ensure and improve the health care provided,” he added.

The deputy hopes that the other political forces will support the project and progress can be made with its treatment in the Chamber. Sotelo affirmed that “This law does not come to remove rights from foreigners, under no point of view might it be said that this law removes the right of access to health from any person, since access cannot be denied or restricted in any case, it is only requested that the necessary forms be arbitrated to cover the expense incurred”.
