Chi Mei Industry announced today that Liao Jinxiang, chairman of Chi Mei Group, passed away yesterday at the age of 85 due to illness. Liao Jinxiang is the wife and brother-in-law of Xu Wenlong, the founder of Chi Mei Group. After Xu Wenlong’s retirement, he took over as chairman of Chi Mei Industrial. He passed the baton in 2012 and has appeared on public welfare occasions in recent years. He was described by Xu Wenlong as a real “Chi Mei’s Doctor”.
Chi Mei Group issued a statement on the official website of Chi Mei Industry today stating that, Liao Jinxiang joined Chi Mei Industry in 1962. He has served in the Chi Mei Group for 60 years, leading and witnessing the globalization process of the Chi Mei Group, and devoted his life to the two public fields of art, culture and medical care, making outstanding contributions. The company is saddened and saddened by the passing of Liao Jinxiang, and will fully assist the family in handling follow-up matters.
Chi Mei Group pointed out that each group company has a sound governance system, and its operations will not be affected in any way.
Liao Jinxiang, who is 10 years younger than Xu Wenlong, joined the company when he was young, and started from the lowest level of warehouse management. The two were not only in-laws, but also partners who worked hard together. In 2004, he took over the chairmanship of Chi Mei Industries from Xu Wenlong. , until 2012 when it was handed over to Xu Chunhua, Xu Wenlong’s cousin.
In Xu Wenlong’s oral biography “Zero and Infinite – Xu Wenlong’s Study of Happiness”, it is mentioned that Liao Jinxiang is too smart, but Liao Jinxiang has done everything, so he takes good care of employees, understands where the difficulties are, and is very humble as a person , I often say some experience for the younger generation to refer to, although they say that I am not an expert, but in fact it is the real “Dr. Chi Mei”.
After retiring from the business field, Liao Jinxiang, like Xu Wenlong, devoted himself to the public field of art, culture and medical care. He continued to serve as the chairman of the Chi Mei Hospital and the Chi Mei Museum Foundation. He often appeared in museum activities with his daughter, Liao Wanru, who was the deputy director of the Chi Mei Museum.
After Liao Jinxiang resigned as chairman of the Chi Mei Museum Foundation in 2020, he rarely appeared in public. Recently, it was reported that his health was poor. Today, the family commissioned the Chi Mei Group to announce the news of his death.
