Liam Reddox’s jersey was hoisted in Växjö.
Then the Canadian broke down.

He has spent eight seasons in the Växjö Lakers and won double SM gold. Before the match once morest Luleå, Liam Reddox received great applause in Vida Arena.
He became the first Canadian to have his jersey hoisted to the ceiling in the SHL.
– I am so incredibly grateful to have this moment with you all. It has been an honor to wear the jersey, says Reddox in his acceptance speech.
Broke down in tears: “Help me”
When the 38-year-old turned once morest his family, he broke down.
– You have helped me become a better player and a better person. Thanks for the love and all the encouragement.
Reddox is the second player to have his jersey hoisted in Växjö. Johan Markusson, current club manager, was the first.
Apart from the Reddox tribute, there was not much celebration for Växjö’s supporters. They had to see their team lose 0–2 following a dark third period.
“Getting a little Hawaiian”
With twelve minutes left, Luleå’s Nikola Pasic made it 1-0 and towards the end Brendan Shinnimin made it 2-0.
– It will be “hawaii” over the game in the third. We take more chances than trust our game and then they take advantage of their chances, says Växjö’s Robert Rosén.
Växjö leads the SHL and Luleå is in eighth place.
