The former One Direction member and the Texan model were first spotted together in August 2018, but went Instagram-official in September 2019. After their relationship ended, 23-year-old Henry opened up about her time with the singer, noting that the eight-year age difference affected their dynamic.
“I definitely chose to forgive a lot of things. When you love someone so much, you have those rose colored glasses. You’re in denial, so you think these things are going to stop, and they don’t, and it just becomes one issue among other issues,” she told PEOPLE in May 2024.
Just a week before Payne’s death, Henry issued a cease and desist order to the former One Direction singer after she claimed he repeatedly contacted her, according to the Daily Mail.
The brunette beauty accused the singer of hooking up with her friends and family, including her mother Azteca Henry.
She also shared some details of her alleged experience with an ex — who she won’t name, but is working with “One Direction fans” — on TikTok. “Since we broke up, he’s been texting me, calling me all the time…always from different phone numbers,” Henry said. “It will create new iCloud accounts to message me.”
A source with knowledge of the situation says Payne “was extremely overwhelmed by all the legal issues” involving Henry.
The One Direction star, 31, fell from the third floor of a hotel in Argentina’s capital, Buenos Aires.
Now a source close to Henry told DailyMail.com: “She’s obviously in shock at the moment.”
The model only found out when a reporter contacted a member of her team.
Several witnesses said Payne fell from his room at the Casa Sur Palmero hotel shortly after 5pm on Wednesday.
