The death of the 31-year-old artist was also confirmed by the director of the medical emergency services of the city of Buenos Aires, Alberto Crescenti, who told local media that the fall caused him “very serious injuries that immediately caused his death.”
When the emergency services arrived, they found that “unfortunately he had injuries incompatible with life as a result of his fall” so “there was no possibility of resuscitation,” Crescenti explained in dialogue with the Argentine television channel Todo Noticias.
“We have to wait for the autopsy, but according to what the team saw, he had a skull base fracture,” he added.
According to the local press, Payne would have fallen in an internal courtyard of the hotel where a cafeteria operates, although at that time it was empty, so no one else was injured.
The singer had recently uploaded videos of himself on his Snapchat social network profile during a concert in Buenos Aires, on October 2, with his friend and former One Direction partner, Niall Horan.
“Very proud,” Payne wrote on his profile, accompanied by images of Horan’s concert, who was presenting his new album in Argentina.
The artist who died this Monday was also shown dancing with his girlfriend and rehearsing the choreography of the song ‘La Macarena’ with a group of fans who identified him in one of the stands during Horan’s concert.
