LG Electronics plans to introduce and subscription to its home appliances.
This is part of a plan to increase global annual revenue from $51 billion to nearly $79 billion by 2030. The company is betting on webOS, which runs smart TVs – it will be implemented in other equipment.
Subscriptions will also play a dominant role in LG’s home appliance portfolio. Some features are expected to be unavailable without an active subscription.
According to the press release, “the goal is to further develop LG ThinQ UP devices that keep up-to-date features that customers need even following purchase.” [The Verge]
