LG introduces four new electric vehicle chargers with electrical and thermal protection

LG announced new electric vehicle chargers developed by HiEV Charger, the charging solutions company that was acquired by LG, GS Neotek and GS Energy. With it, LG gained operational infrastructure through materials such as electric vehicle batteries and energy storage systems.

Four chargers were presented. two of them were 7 kW models available in wall mounted types and in support that are slow loading, while the other two were models of 100kW and 200kW fast chargingrespectively.

Suh Heung-kyu, Vice President and Head of Electric Vehicle Charging Business Division at LG Electronics Business Solutions Company, shared that the company will continue to invest in the electric vehicle charging sector.

The novelty of the launch, according to LG, is its security enhancement. They are dust and water resistant and have functions that provide electrical and thermal protection during the entire charging process, the devices also have narrow depth, connector blockage detection and remote updates. Furthermore, these chargers save space as two EVs can be charged simultaneously due to the availability of two connectors.

According to Roland Berger, a global consulting firm, the electric vehicle charger industry must grow to $186 billion by 2030 due to growing environmental concerns and regulations.
