SEOUL, July 13 (Yonhap) — LG Electronics Inc. announced Thursday that it will launch the world’s first wireless OLED TV, starting in the South Korean market. The electronics giant unveiled the 97-inch LG Signature OLED M at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023 in Las Vegas last January, which immediately caught the eye for its sleek design and lack of cables other than the one for the power supply on the back.
The new OLED TV features a Zero Connect Box transmission that sends 4K 120Hz video and audio signals to the screen wirelessly.
The cube-shaped box can be placed up to 10m from the screen and transmits data seamlessly to the “world’s first consumer TV with Zero Conncect technology”, according to LG.
The company said it has developed an algorithm that helps minimize transmission errors and interruptions, and identifies the optimal transmission path for signals. The model allows for greater flexibility in interior layout and a simpler visual environment without tangled cables snaking around the house, according to the company.
LG explained that the Signature M was made possible thanks to the company’s OLED technologies and the know-how it has acquired over the past decades. It’s LG’s fifth Signature OLED since the first model launched in 2016. In 2020, the Signature OLED R was the world’s first rollable TV. Pre-orders started today and deliveries will begin next Thursday in South Korea.
