The system does away with the voice coils, cones and magnets found in most loudspeakers, and instead uses so-called membrane-like driver technology. It is said to vibrate display panels and various materials inside the vehicle for a “rich 3D immersive sound experience.”

The “thin actuation sound solution” measures only regarding 15×8.9cm and weighs regarding 40g. Such a size can easily be hidden in vehicle components such as dashboards, pillars, headrests, etc., and according to LGD, it will not affect the sound quality while reducing the size. In fact, we’ve seen similar technology on LG’s own and Sony’s TVs before. The factory will make further demonstrations at the upcoming CES 2023. According to their plan, the solution will be officially commercialized in the first half of 2023.
