Lexa case: know what dissociative amnesia is

According to a medical report, singer Lexa suffered a dissociative amnesia crisis on Thursday (16/3), when MC Guimê was expelled from BBB23. In an official note, she told how she felt regarding her husband’s expulsion from the reality show.

“I always kept my relationship out of the spotlight and everything that came from me was affection, love and complicity. So that day, my mind went into blackout and I had a dissociative amnesia crisis (according to my doctors) and I might only remember a few things now”, says an excerpt from the note.

What is dissociative amnesia?

Dissociative amnesia is a type of psychological disorder that occurs due to some intense stress or trauma. The picture does not allow the person to remember important personal information, explains psychoanalyst Andréa Ladislau.

In most cases, the individual has one or more memory failures, which can last from a few minutes to hours. Already in more serious situations, the problem can last a lifetime.

“That is, the person suffers stress, whatever it may be, and the mind causes the event to be forgotten completely or in pieces, dissociating the abused/shaken or unbalanced part of its consciousness. It is, therefore, very different from ordinary forgetting, as it reflects a psychological defense”, says the specialist.
