In recent hours, the editorial offices of the British BBC and Sky Sports stations have reached similar conclusions. Motorsport.com, citing its sources, also claims that the seven-time Formula 1 world champion has agreed to a transfer to the Italian team.

“It is not clear whether the contract has been signed yet, but negotiations are at an advanced stage and may be completed this week,” we read.

Hamilton signed a two-year contract with Mercedes (2024-2025) just a few months ago, but it has a 1+1 formula and allows the 39-year-old to leave the Brackley team at the end of the season. Ferrari had already expressed interest in the Briton, but he consistently rejected the Italians’ advances because he knew that Mercedes gave him a better chance of success in F1.

The last two seasons in F1 were completely unsuccessful for the German team, which won only one race during this period. This might have convinced the Briton to change his employer. Another argument might have been the person of Frederic Vasseur. The current Ferrari boss has worked with Hamilton in lower racing series and maintains a friendly relationship with him.

“Corriere della Sera” claims that Lewis Hamilton wants to end his career at Ferrari, which would be the culmination of his achievements in F1. If he managed to win his eighth championship title, his achievement would be even greater and would confirm his legend. The Italian daily adds that Charles Leclerc has agreed to the transfer. If the Monegasque wins the internal competition with such a successful driver, he will only increase his ratings in the paddock.

The expected departure of Lewis Hamilton is, in turn, a blow to Mercedes, which has been in negotiations with its star for a long time. Recent months have shown that George Russell cannot necessarily prove himself as a team leader. The Germans will have to look for a new driver in a situation where the market is very limited. One of the options will be Carlos Sainz, who will have to leave Ferrari to make room for a new star.

Mercedes and Ferrari declined to comment on recent reports from Italian and British media.
