LEWIS Hamilton wants to pursue film following retiring as a Formula 1 driver.
“I don’t think I was really competitive in this matter (cinema). However, now, I think I will be competitive in that field,” said Hamilton, quoted from GQ Sports, Thursday (4/4).
Hamilton, some time ago, revealed that he was involved with actor Brad Pitt in the production of a film regarding premier class car racing, which is scheduled for release in 2025.
The film also involves the Top Gun: Maverick (2022) production team, including director Joseph Kosinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
Hamilton also promises that the film will be the most anticipated racing film and will bring an original story that will stimulate the audience’s adrenaline.
The seven-time world champion admits to being a film lover. He likes the popular film Top Gun (1986), as well as racing films such as Grand Prix (1966), Le Mans (1971), Rush (2013) and Ford v Ferrari (2019).

His career in Formula 1 also helped him meet people in front of and behind the scenes, including Pitt and Tom Cruise, who ultimately connected Hamilton with director Kosinski.
Kosinski and Bruckheimer contacted Hamilton not long following production on Top Gun: Maverick was completed, and offered him the opportunity to be involved in a big-budget Formula 1-themed film.
“I feel like my real job is to make this film ‘make sense’ and I just give them advice regarding what the essence of racing is, the view of a racing (and film) fan and what things are interesting and vice versa,” concluded the British racer That. (Ant/Z-1)
