Lewis Hamilton angers Alonso on Instagram “To Fernando” / F1 Belgian GP[F1-Gate.com]

Lewis Hamilton doesn’t seem ready to settle down on recent exchanges about his collision with Fernando Alonso at the Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix.

On the opening lap of the F1 Belgian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton tried to overtake Fernando Alonso from the outside at Turn 5, but his right front tire hit Alonso’s left rear tire. The machine that floated in the air hit the ground hard and took damage, resulting in retirement.

After the accident, Fernando Alonso vented his anger at Lewis Hamilton over the radio, saying: ‘What an idiot! You closed the door from the outside! We got off to a mega start, but he only knows how to drive to start first! ’ he cried.

Lewis Hamilton took responsibility for the contact but said he would not speak to Fernando Alonso or apologize.

“I would have apologized if I hadn’t listened to him,” said Hamilton.

“I don’t have much of a reaction to that statement. I know how things feel when it’s hot,” he said.

“But it’s good to know how he feels about me. It’s better if it’s made public. Like I said, it wasn’t intentional and I take responsibility for it. That’s what adults do.”

But Lewis Hamilton doesn’t seem ready for a ‘grown-up deal’. Reflecting on the weekend of the Belgian Grand Prix, he posted on Instagram, along with a picture of a signed Mercedes cap that read ‘To Fernando’.

“I love mine. The weekend didn’t go my way but it was great to get back to work after a great break,” Hamilton wrote in the post.

“I love my job, the team and the energy of Spa. I want to thank the team for their hard work and thank the fans for coming to show their love.”

The contact caused Lewis Hamilton’s car to suffer engine and gearbox damage, which could lead to a grid penalty for the next race.
