[OSEN=정승우 기자] Roberto Lewandowski (33, Munich)’s Poland defeated Zlatan Ibrahimovic (40, AC Milan)’s Sweden to advance to the World Cup finals.

Poland’s national team defeated Sweden 2-0 in the play-off of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar European Qualifier held at the Korzov Silesian Stadium in Ajouw, Poland on the 30th at 3:45 am (Korea time). With this, Poland succeeded in qualifying for the World Cup for the second time in a row.

Home team Poland took out a 4-3-2-1 formation. Roberto Lewandowski was at the forefront and Sebastian Simansky-Piotr Zielinsk came in second. Jakuf Moder-Jacek Guralski-Christian Wielic served in midfield, while Bartosh Beresinski-Jan Bednarek-Kamil Glik and Matthew Kathy formed the defense. Goalkeeper gloves were worn by goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.

Away team Sweden faced off in a 4-4-2 formation. Robin Quaison-Alexander Isaacs made up the two-top, and Emil Porsbury, Christopher Olsson, Jesper Karlstrom and Dejan Kulusevsky filled the midfield. Goalkeepers including Ludwig Augustinsson, Marcus Danielsson, Victor Lindelof, Emile Kraft and Robin Olsen kept the goal.

In the 10th minute of the first half, Poland had a chance. A cross from the right flank was headered by Lewandowski, but it went just past the goal.

Sweden also counterattacked. In the 19th minute of the first half, the defense kicked the ball back in from a corner kick, and Kulusevsky received a pass and fired a shot with his left foot. But the ball was blocked by the defense.

After the first half ended 0-0, Poland seized a chance at the start of the second half. Substitute Sim Karlstrom committed a foul inside the box while defending Krihoviak. The referee declared a penalty kick, and Lewandowski, who took the kick, shook the net with a calm shot.

Poland, leading 1-0, scored an additional goal in the 27th minute of the second half to widen the gap. Zielinski did not miss a defensive error and stole the ball, then fired a right-footed shot that split the net.

In the 34th minute of the second half, Sweden, who was in a hurry, removed Danielsson and added Zlatan Ibrahimovic to strengthen the attack.

Four minutes of extra time was given in the second half, but Sweden failed to score and Poland, who held the goal firmly, won 2-0.
