Polish Robert Lewandowski, the Barcelona star, admitted that following winning the Spanish Super Cup at the expense of Real Madrid, he felt as if he was at home, noting that Xavi Hernandez, the Blaugrana coach, is a very wonderful player and coach.
Lewandowski said in statements reported by the newspaper “Mundo Deportivo”: “Xavi was a great player, and what is going on around him now maintains this feeling, that is why we support him and follow his path. Something on the pitch, he saw it all…you can imagine his situation now as a manager.”
He added: “Xavi has experience now, because he was in a club for two years, and it is important to understand the difference between being a player or a technical director, in order to become a great technical director. There is a small difference, but this difference is what makes you succeed in the end or not.”
And regarding the feeling of winning the Super Cup with Barcelona at the expense of Real Madrid, Lewandowski replied: “After this first title, I had to say that I felt like a player in Barcelona and I had already won something for the club.”
He continued: “We can now think regarding the future, and win more titles, but following winning the Super Cup, I felt at home, a real feeling. I don’t need to prove anything, but with this team we can look forward and look at what we can achieve.”
