‘Let’s walk for health’, in 1300 in Castellana Grotte to support scientific research

the scientific hospitalization and treatment institute specializing in gastroenterology “S. de Bellis” of Castellana Grotte renewed the appointment with ‘Let’s walk for health’, an event now in its sixth edition and which saw the participation of over 1,300 members. A non-competitive 8km race which raised funds for scientific research.

“The objective is to promote and spread the importance of physical activity for the prevention of numerous pathologies and we believe that we are achieving it”, declared the general director of the Irccs Tommaso Stallone who takes the opportunity to highlight the important results achieved in the oncological surgical activity of the gastrointestinal system, in bariatric surgery and in the treatment of chronic inflammatory intestinal diseases.

“It’s not a race, you don’t win prizes or medals, but it’s an extraordinary day of sharing between the institute and the territory”, underlines the president of Civ Enzo Delvecchio who considers this initiative a representative model of the “De Bellis” between assistance and research. And it is precisely with what has been established by the association
worldwide for cancer research which the scientific director of the institute, Gianluigi Giannelli, defines as “movement, walking, the best possible drug as a support for the therapy of certain diseases but also as prevention of the development of neoplasms”. Testifying to the value of the walk in line with medicine, the participation from Rome of the director of the research section of the ministry of health, Maria Novella Luciani, who “shows great satisfaction for a public structure capable not only of treating patients but of providing them with all the instructions to stay healthy.”
