It’s a nice story, spotted by our colleagues from the Future, which takes place in Lessines in Hainaut. After a big mistake, the mother of Hugo, 13, asks him to think regarding what he can do to be forgiven.
“Mom cut my phone and my Playstationexplains Hugo. So I thought during the night. The next morning, I explained to mum that I had made the decision to clean the Grand-Place in Lessines.“
It was therefore armed with a few bags that Hugo embarked on the collection of waste.
From his bar, Florentin Schallier mightn’t help wondering what this young man was doing: “I chatted with him for 5 minutes and took a slaphe explains. I found it so good, I wanted to help him in his business so I posted a message on social networks. Very quickly it was very commented and shared. The municipality immediately offered two pliers to collect the waste.“
Surprised by this enthusiasm, Hugo explains why he chose this good deed: “I was very shocked by a report which showed that cows and other animals sometimes ate the ends of soda cans, thrown in the fields from the road. And then one of my friends had the case. One of his cows died following ingesting a piece of can that stuck in his throat.“
Today, solidarity is organized around Hugo. A company will provide him with all the necessary equipment to continue his initiative. In the next few days, a Facebook page “Hugo’s movement” will be created. The goal, to convince more young people from the region and elsewhere to join the movement, and to pick up litter in the public space.
