She stopped playing the “sexy bombshell” role a while ago, but her sense of humor and direct way of saying things haven’t changed. Today she is regarding to premiere the series “Súper Ada” (via América Televisión), where she plays a manager of musical artists, and she plans to make a film regarding her life, directed by Gino Tassara. “I think the most valuable thing in all this time has been my growth as a professional and as a human being,” she confesses, looking back. That is her starting point for her reunion with Somos, a magazine that has accompanied her every step of the way and keeps records of each of her stages.

—A while ago, we saw some photos you took for Somos in your beginnings. What memories come to you from that time?

At first, everything was like a game. He didn’t think he would last long in this. My plan with the performance was to make money to buy a stroller. That’s how I saw things. But I finished “Caligula” and, two weeks later, Michel Gómez called me to enter “Those Above and Below.” They offered me triple my salary and I accepted. Then came other series proposals, one following another. What I was trying to do was have fun.

In 2006, the actress moved to Miami and participated in several Telemundo productions. She returned to Peru in 2011.

—Being so young, was it difficult for you to deal with media exposure?

It didn’t cost me. In reality, I cared very little what the press or people said regarding me. I have always been a person with zero poses. If I had to go out in my pajamas, I did it. I also didn’t repress my personality. He used to say things very effusively. It was pretty intense, as the kids would say now.

—Do you plan to tell everything in your film?

We are going to focus above all on the period of the 80s and 90s. The idea is to make a balance between my beginnings and everything that came following: the series, the motorcycles, the discos, when the bullet fell… I So many things have happened that we have to see carefully where we are going to take the story.

—Where did the idea of making a film regarding you come from?

I’m not saying that my life has been exemplary, but I feel that with the film we can leave a message. There are nuances, good and bad things happen to all of us. Nobody lives completely happy, nor sad.

—Is it confirmed that your daughter Ariana is going to play you?

It is a possibility, but it is not confirmed. She likes acting as a hobby, but right now she is dedicated to something else. She studies at the university and is doing her internship. Let’s see what happens later.

Leslie participated in the second season of “The Big Chef: Celebrities.” She says this program gave a new boost to her career.

—You have three children, young adults. How is your relationship with them? Do they remember you?

Our relationship is pretty good. I was a fairly young mother and I have made many mistakes that are no longer relevant to delve into. It’s not easy being a single mother and having to raise three children. One always seeks to give them the best and ensure that they have a good education, but what has worried me most is that they do not lack love. All three are calm, good human beings. I am more scandalous and partyful than them.

—Today you have a lower profile off-camera, with a much quieter life.

Well, time and maturity teach you. You learn that it is not always good to show a lot of your personal life, that it is better to keep some things to yourself. Now with networks, it is nice to share if you are traveling in a beautiful place, but beyond that, no. Whether or not I was with someone on that trip, whether I was drunk or not, that is something that no one cares regarding.

Leslie with her three children: Nadim (24), Ariana (22) and Malek (20). Her daughter might play her on the big screen.

—You are also a spokesperson in the fight once morest skin cancer.

What I now try to convey is a message to people to take care of the sun. Let them use sunscreen. Fortunately, when my cancer was detected it was in its initial stage. I wasn’t scared, I felt like I might overcome it. That is why it is also important to have preventive checkups. I have been a beach player all my life, but unfortunately I did not take the necessary care.

—A while ago, you moved to Punta Hermosa. What is your day to day life like there?

I am much calmer and more relaxed than in the city. I have always liked the night and I have been a little crazy, I am not going to deny it, but today I can say that I feel at peace with myself. Being surrounded by the sea and nature has helped me discover myself.

Before becoming an actress, Leslie was known in the modeling world. She participated in the Miss Peru pageant in 1991.

—Do you reflect a lot on your past?

What I try is to think much more positively and enjoy my solitude. Before I didn’t like being alone, I had that need to be with people. Today I see everything clearer, especially the goals and dreams that I want to achieve. I would like to work abroad once more, or have a program on the radio.

—Does embracing your loneliness mean not having a partner?

I’m getting to know myself, but I’m still very social. I am a herd animal. More than a bear, I would say I am a wolf. Although I enjoy being alone, I find it nice to go out with someone, or go out with several [risas]. I just got out of a five and a half year relationship; I’m still friends with him, we are legs. But right now, I don’t intend to jump into another relationship. //
