Les Sucreries du Gabon, formerly SUCAF and New Owendo International Port (NOIP), a subsidiary of the Arise Ports & Logistics group, recently entered into a strategic partnership to ensure the regular supply of sugar to the Gabonese market in order to spare consumers from new shortages of this product widely consumed in the country, according to a press release.
The partnership covers several key areas such as port handling, logistics services, ship consignment as well as storage and transportation of sugar in Gabon.
As part of the implementation of this agreement, Sucreries du Gabon entrusted NOIP with the responsibility of landing, storing and distributing a cargo of 11,000 tonnes of sugar imported from Brazil.
Indeed, on July 10, a ship chartered by Sucreries du Gabon, containing 11,000 tons of sugar in its holds, was taken over by NOIP.
“A cargo that represents no less than 4 to 5 months of reserves and which will make it possible to supply the supply circuits of the Gabonese market,” said Donald Ollo Nguema, Sales Director at Sucreries du Gabon.
NOIP says one of its two warehouses will be entirely dedicated to the activities of Sucreries du Gabon. NOIP will also provide a door-to-door service to optimize the delivery of sugar in Greater Libreville and the interior of the country.
In Libreville, the company Les Sucreries du Gabon now has a complete logistics solution and a strategic location for its activities. In total, NOIP has already received 13,200 tonnes of sugar on its quay on behalf of this new partner, and is awaiting the next shipments.
For NOIP, this partnership allows it to diversify its logistics activities with a new food product which is added to the management of the logistics chain of products such as cereals or palm oil. With this contract, we are strengthening our legitimacy on the market by positioning ourselves as a flexible partner attentive to the specific needs of customers. “, says Micky Badinga, Sales Manager at NOIP.
NOIP is delighted to play its part alongside the State in the supply of sugar, and to support the main operator in the country’s sugar industry.
Located in the Owendo port area, New Owendo International Port (NOIP) is a port infrastructure serving Gabon’s industry and trade. A subsidiary of the Arise Ports & Logistics group, this port terminal is equipped to ensure the entire logistics chain of a multitude of cargoes, from ships to industries, thanks to modern equipment and its own logistics fleet.
NOIP’s shareholders are: Arise Ports & Logistics, Stoa Energy and the Gabonese State through the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations. The company, inaugurated in 2017, contributes to the attractiveness of Gabon by offering economic operators a strategic gateway to the country and the sub-region.
