A turnout record. This is what the organizers of the Les Sables-d’Olonne Half-Marathon will be able to note on their tablets at the end of the 2023 edition which was held this Sunday, May 28.
Of all the races offered (races of the heart, 5, 10 and 21 km), this edition will have brought together more than 4,000 runners.
2 300 participants took the start for the only half-marathon.
And they will certainly remember this race for a long time, marked by a remarkable enthusiasm from the public, but also by a blazing sun and a strong heat which put a blow to the organisms. Firefighters identify 41 people supported.
Moroccan victory
The wind blowing on the Remblai was certainly welcome to cool the bodies, but, combined with the heat, it will have overcome the efforts necessary to break the competition record. It is therefore not this year that Yohan Durant’s time of 1h03’17” set in 2021 will have been beaten.
Which did not prevent good fights at the outposts, far from it. The event will have been animated by a strong Moroccan and Algerian delegation, qualifying race for the Mediterranean Games requires.
It was finally the Moroccan Abida Ezamzami (Evreux) who won. Among the women, the victory goes to the Algerian Nawal Yahi (Athlé 92).
Note in passing the fine performance of Montois Brice Daubord, fifth in the event and first Frenchman.
popular race
This half-marathon remains faithful to its desire to remain a popular event, giving everyone the opportunity to run in front of one of the most beautiful bays in the world.
