Leveraging generative artificial intelligence, L’Equipe launches “2 Minutes Chrono”, a new daily podcast covering the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, available on the website and L’Equipe app as well as on major platforms starting July 24. The podcast uses advances in artificial intelligence to automatically generate concise news summaries of Olympic events.
Each episode is approximately 2 minutes long and summarizes highlights, medal rankings and upcoming highlights. A week after the Olympics, the podcast reached tens of thousands of listeners.
The solution, co-developed by Amazon Web Services and Devoteam, is based on Anthropic’s Claude 3.5 Sonnet, a highly advanced large language model (LLM) capable of generating engaging text content based on The Team’s news articles and sports data. Claude can be easily and securely deployed through Amazon Bedrock, AWS’s fully managed generative AI service that provides a broad selection of foundational models developed by AI leaders such as Anthropic, Cohere, Meta, and more, accessible through a single API. The text output produced by Claude is then fed into ElevenLabs’ text-to-speech service, which converts the summary into natural audio.
Emmanuel Alix, Digital Director of L’Equipe: We are pleased to provide additional audio services through generative artificial intelligence to provide our listeners with unprecedented Olympic coverage. Without this technology, we wouldn’t be able to provide this service to our readers.
