German manufacturer Leoni plans to build a new wiring systems plant in Agadir to support its growth prospects in production for commercial vehicles. This project will also create 3,000 jobs in administration, engineering and production, while supporting Morocco as a competitive industrial destination, according to a statement from the company. To this end, the company has recently signed agreements for the realization of several investment projects.
In this sense, two memorandums of understanding and a framework agreement will allow the implementation of six investment projects, planned by the automotive supplier. Thus, Leoni will expand its existing nine factories in the Casablanca-Settat region and establish a new one in Agadir, creating a total of more than 7,000 new jobs by 2027.
COO and board member of Leoni, Ingo Spengler welcomed the signing of the agreement with the Moroccan government. “Leoni will seize the opportunity to expand its footprint in the region, which offers favorable conditions in terms of the availability of skilled workers, competitiveness and logistics,” he stressed.
Through this investment, the company intends to expand into a market where national players are focused on the development of the industrial sector in the economy, particularly through the automotive segment.
