“He didn’t want to play the lead. I really had to persuade him to be in the film. He didn’t want to do it. He thought it was boring. He didn’t accept the role until I convinced him that it was actually a different challenge .”
In any case, Cameron was glad that he was able to persuade DiCaprio after all. “You can imagine that at any of those points, if that really fell apart, it would have been someone else and it wouldn’t have made this film. And I can’t imagine the film without him and without her.”
