The world boxing champion, Daniela ‘Leona’ Asenjo, acknowledged that she did not receive calls from authorities prior to winning the title last Wednesday. She also called on the authorities to monitor how athletes from various disciplines are working.
After winning the world boxing title in the super flyweight category, the Valdivian athlete, Daniela “Leona” Asenjo, criticized the authorities, accusing not getting enough supportprior to your competition.

Despite stating that she is happy with the achievement obtained, Asenjo criticized the lack of support from the authorities for sport, stating that she received congratulations from the Minister of Sport, Alexandra Benado; the mayor of Valdivia, Carla Amtmann, and the sports minister, René Antiao, all through WhatsApp, and that she only received phone calls following her victory, and not before.
In addition, he called on integrate a greater number of public policies for sport at the national level.
“Particularly I did not have calls from authority prior to the fight (…) I hope that this also serves to realize that it is necessary to monitor how the different athletes are working,” said the boxer.
The boxer was expected to arrive in the Los Ríos region on Friday followingnoon. Some of the activities that she considers on her agenda this week are a press point organized by her sponsor, the Puritan supermarket, and a meeting with the Sports Seremi.
