The merchant Kostas Fasilis spoke to MEGA regarding seafood prices.

“There is enough and last year’s prices are valid and maybe even better. We are talking regarding fresh not frozen. Price is determined by size. It can go for 4 euros per kilo in a certain size. It can be sold for 7-8 euros, however, because costs are involved. We can’t make assumptions on the fish,” he pointed out.

Basket of Lent: Kostas Skrekas for the Easter Basket

As announced by the responsible minister Kostas Skrekas speaking to SKAI in the morning, the announcement of the Easter basket will be made in time, just like last year.

Kostas Skrekas announced that there will be an Easter basket for the household this year as well.

“Obviously the biggest problem facing the household is punctuality and that’s why it’s a commitment from the government and the Ministry of Development that we won’t stop until we see inflation and the prices of products on the shelves start to come down, inflation to de-escalate and in this way to support Greek households”, noted the three-year Development Minister Kostas Skrekas speaking today on the TV station SKAI.

“We have taken a series of measures, which began to be implemented yesterday, March 1st. A range of products, almost 4000 products in supermarkets, following a drastic measure we voted in Parliament, the prices have started to decrease. We will see how much the reduction will be in the coming days. From the first day, yesterday, we carried out autopsies and we saw that we have a de-escalation of prices, reductions in the prices of products. We have discounts that can reach 15% or even 20%. We have stabilization and price reduction,” he added.

He added “all that you see is not to celebrate. We are keeping our heads down and working to ensure that inflation decelerates. We will not stop” while he announced that there will be an Easter basket for the household this year as well.

Mr. Skrekas also stated that “we asked the suppliers to reduce the list price and now all offers should be calculated at the new reduced prices. Thus, the consumer will be able to buy the offer even cheaper than before the implementation of the measures” and added: “We will not stop our effort to support households once morest inflation until we see tangible results” .

Regarding the offers, he noted: “We do not interfere with the offers and discounts made by the supplier to the consumer. We wanted the prices of the products on the shelves to be reduced and the offers to be calculated on the basis of the new prices.”

Finally, the minister said: “The measures that have been implemented since yesterday are measures of a permanent nature. We will continue to try to lower shelf prices and de-escalate inflation in other product categories as well.”
