The pphoto collection found at the European Union exhibition space during the week of March 4 in Brussels, at the Paul-Henri Spaak building of the European Parliament. So far, the exhibition has been hosted at the Lisbon Museum of Ethnology in Portugal and the Breziče Castle in Slovenia.
The exhibition arrived at Europe’s political center for International Women’s Day to promote a message of cooperation, partnership and empowerment. The images captured by Singh in more than ten countries are revealing the burden women carry through the physical load they carry on their hands, heads and backs. Each woman’s face tells a story of mental and physical resilience that transcends cultural differences.
The report helps make these stories visible to policy-making circles. At the same time, it creates unique moments for telling personal stories.
“It reminds me of the women who made me the woman I am today,” Blatnik said. “Having lost my father at a young age, I was raised by my mother and strong women. They kept me safe and raised me with love. And that’s exactly what women do: they support each other.”
Blatnik is the founder of Breathe Hellas, a mental health movement in Greece that is a platform for building resilient communities and supports mental health as a human right. Breathe offers tools for mental and physical wellness and spreads the message that no one is alone.
The tools are available on the Breathe website at
“Let this exhibition serve as a reminder of the incredible strength and resilience of women everywhere, starting here at the Center of Europe,” Blatnik said, explaining that stronger connections will help ensure that women everywhere have access to safe parts for recovery and resilience.
“The stronger your roots, the more you can grow.”
