Abdullah Al-Saadi, Yemen’s permanent representative to the United Nations, revealed that the truce has become fragile due to the Houthis’ daily violations that threaten the peace process. He pointed out that the government will review the violations before the Security Council and reveal the party obstructing peace. Al-Saadi stressed that Yemen today is facing a historic opportunity, pointing to the efforts being made by the international community to achieve this. He noted that the government is keen to make peace efforts a success and to achieve a comprehensive ceasefire in the country.
This comes at a time when the Yemeni army announced that the Houthi coup militia committed 277 violations of the UN armistice on (Wednesday and Thursday, July 20 and 21) on the fronts of Hodeidah, Taiz, Al-Dhalea, Hajjah, Saada, Al-Jawf and Marib, which resulted in the killing of 12 army personnel, and the injury of 19 others in separate attacks. The media center of the Yemeni Armed Forces stated that the violations were distributed among 109 violations in the Hays axis, south of Hodeidah, 51 violations in the fighting fronts west of Hajjah Governorate, 42 violations in the Al-Barah axis, west of Taiz, 37 violations in the fronts of the Taiz axis, and 24 violations in the south, west and northwest of Marib. And 7, east of Hazm Al-Jawf, 4 violations on the Maris front in Al-Dhalea governorate, and 3 violations on the fronts in Saada governorate.
At the forefront of the violations was an attempt to infiltrate armed Houthi groups towards a site on the Maris front in the Al-Dhalea axis, which was thwarted by the army’s heroes and forced the infiltrating terrorist elements to flee. The rest of the violations varied between shooting at army positions with artillery and various calibers, BMPs, snipers and booby-trapped drones.
