Legislative Council Election Committee by-election results announced

The Legislative Council Election Committee by-election was held today (18th), with 6 candidates competing for 4 seats. Voting began at 9:00 am and ended at 11:30 am. The Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr. Tsang Kwok-wai, and the Chairman of the Election Management Committee, Mr. Lu Qikang, opened boxes to sell votes. As of 11 o’clock, the cumulative number of voters was 1,307, and the turnout rate was 90.70%. The results of the 2021 Legislative Council General Election showed that 1,426 people from the Election Committee voted, with a turnout rate of 98.48%. The number of voters in this by-election was 119 fewer than the previous election, and the turnout rate dropped by about 7.8%. Huang Jinhui, Chen Yongguang, He Jingkang and Shang Hailong were elected.

The election campaigners of each candidate came to the scene to raise cards and shouted the candidate’s bluff, and many councilors also came to the scene to canvass for the candidates.
